ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The Allen County Regional Planning Commission is making some big changes at their office in downtown Lima.

Over the next week, workers will be removing the awning that has seen damage over the years, and work will be done to restore historic aspects of building, including revealing street-facing windows that have been covered up for decades.
Once the work is done on the outside, plans will be finalized for the inside of the building to help open up more space to fit the planning commission's needs.

"By knocking out that conference room, making it a little bit bigger, we’re updating this building so it keeps in track with what the rest of the downtown is doing," said Shaunna Basinger, public outreach and community program planner for the ACRPC. "It allows us to keep things working well for our needs, and hopefully if we ever do move from here, it serves the next person just as well."
The office will be closed to the public through December 9th. You can still reach regional planning commission staff by phone (419-228-1836) or email.
