LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Local high school students pursuing a nursing career received some hands-on learning on Wednesday evening.

Lima Memorial Health Systems partnered with Rhodes State College to host their annual "Exploring" program at the Rhodes State Borra Center in downtown Lima. The program has students rotate in 6 hands-on stations, which lets them get an up-close look at the variety of career paths in health care and see what day-to-day tasks are like in their respective fields.
While some of these students may already have a clear idea of the field they want to pursue, it also gives them the opportunity to network and gain priceless knowledge that will benefit them in the future.

"When you see these students come in and these people that are so interested in healthcare with that bright-eyed, and they're very eager to have that hands-on to take care of people, that's very refreshing as a seasoned nurse, and it kind of invigorates me again to know that they're our future and these are the people that are going to be taking care of me when I get older. So I want to train them well and train them good and see that eagerness when they come in; that really makes my whole day," said Amanda Corcoran, RN and director of inpatient rehab at Lima Memorial Health System.
Rhodes State College and Lima Memorial will team up again for a "Therapy Explore" night in early 2025.
