The Salvation Army has partnered with Walmart to help kids get ready for school.
On Saturday The Salvation Army hosted its Stuff the Bus donation event at the Walmart on Allentown road.
They handed out snacks and drinks and encouraged people to donate various school supplies.
The donated supplies will be transferred to a school bus and delivered to students next week.
This is a part of a nationwide effort to ensure kids are well-prepared for the school year.
“We want the kids to be successful and if they have confidence in being able to go to school and have everything they need to start it off right then it just makes things better,” said Paul Downing, The Salvation Army operations coordinator.
“During the time of year when people are in need and school’s getting ready to start it’s a great time for us to give back to our community,” said Braden Nickels, Walmart Assistant Store Manager.
The donations will be given out on Wednesday during the Lima City Schools Back to School celebration. It will be held at Martin Luther King Park from 4 to 6 p.m.
