LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â A local woman used her business to help families struggling to afford school supplies.Â
The small business owner behind the distribution wants to give back because she herself is a mother of three who has been through tough times financially when she was battling breast cancer in 2014.
Shawnda Morris, the owner of It's A Go Bakes, used money from selling her vegan sweets, as well as her own money, to buy enough supplies for over 300 kids. Each was given a backpack to fill up with everything that could be on their back-to-school list, from pencils to paper, and they could even get fidgets and sensory toys.Â

She adds that she plans to make her back-to-school giveaway an annual event.
"Didn't know where I was going to get the money, because I was on short-term disability, to get school supplies, and so an organization in Columbus, Ohio, helped me with funds for getting school supplies for my children, and I always said one day I'm going to give back to the community," Morris explained.Â
