Social Media Addiction Can Lead to Insomnia

Are you having trouble sleeping at night?

The problem could be an addiction to social media.

A new study that will be published in the April issue of the journal Preventative Medicine found that frequent social media users are at a significantly higher risk of sleep problems than those who are less keen on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.

A study of more than 17 hundred people found that social media can really impact your sleep.

Dr. Sreenivasa Chanamolu with St. Rita's Sleep Center in Lima says he's seen similar problems here and that sound sleep can also be hurt by other electronic gadgets we use.

The study found that nearly one in three patients in the study that had sleep problems, spent 61 minutes each day on social media.
