The St. Marys Police Department arrested a woman after she allegedly assaulted and hospitalized a man Tuesday night.
Chief Jacob Sutton says that 24-year-old Shanavia Hill has been charged with felonious assault following an incident with 64-year-old Charles Schmidt. The police responded to an assault call in the 400 block of Gas Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Schmidt was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with unknown injuries, Hill is in the Auglaize County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.

On September 24, 2019 at 1928hrs, the St. Marys Police Department was called to the 400 block of Gas St. in reference to an assault. A subsequent investigation revealed that 24-year-old Shanavia Hill of 1000 block of Hendricks Ave. had assaulted 64-year-old Charles Schmidt of the 400 block of Gas St. Hill was arrested and booked into the Auglaize County Jail on a charge of Felonious Assault. Schmidt was transported to JTDMH by the St. Marys Fire Dept. and later transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
