As this flu season continues to grow across the nation, it has become harder and harder to avoid contact with people who have it.
And that especially goes for the people who work in the hospital. Mercy Health St. Rita's says the flu bug hasn’t really impacted their staffing levels during this peak flu season. They have instructed their employees to wash their hands often, which is good advice to everyone that is surrounded by people who are under the weather. Plus the employees at the medical center are making sure they are gearing up to help prevent the flu virus from spreading.
"We have the appropriate precautions in place at the facility and we have the appropriate personal protective equipment for our employees to use when treating influenza, such as gowns, gloves, mask when treating any patents with influenza," explained Cory Unverferth, Manager of Infection Prevention.Â
Unverferth says there are still visitor restrictions for St. Rita's. They are asking for anybody under the age of 14 or if you have any symptoms of the flu to refrain from visiting the friends and loved ones in the hospital.Â
