Kids with Autism the focus this morning in Bluffton as a few area organizations came together to raise money and awareness for the disorder. Despite the poor weather conditions hundreds of people came out to support the second annual Stepping out for Autism 5K Walk and Run.
The morning started out dry as people lined up on Bluffton's track to help bring awareness and support to people dealing with Autism.
With runners starting in the front and walkers in the back it seemed as if the word "go" also brought the rain. The wet weather held no one back as people continued to walk with umbrellas and run though the rain, something event organizers love to see.
Sponsored by area businesses who donated money and supplies for Saturday's event and by participants who paid a fifteen dollar entry fee the 5K run and walk raised money for the West Central Ohio Autism Community, the Center for Autism and Dyslexia, and Bitter Sweet at Betty's Farm.
These organizations help families with autistic children as well as those battling autism. With rainy conditions each of the past two years event organizers see Saturday's event as another successful year and look forward to next year, perhaps with sunny skies.
