
PUTNAM COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Ottawa law enforcement and first responders have blocked off both lanes of State Route 65 North of Main Street to Fourth Street in the village because of a possible bomb threat. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office reports that they want people to avoid the area. Officers remain on the scene until they can understand what the situation is and are using an abundance of caution to make sure everyone stays safe.

The Putnam County sentimental is reporting online that law enforcement was called around noon to a man laying on top of the hood of his car stopped on State Route 65. The paper says the man was acting and talking strangley including making comments about having explosives. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says when the investigation is complete and the all-clear is given details about the situation will be released.

On December 31, 2023, at approximately 11:47 hrs. Ottawa Police Department units were dispatched to the area of St. Rt. 67 at West Third Street, Ottawa, for a suspicious male complaint. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male subject matching the description given. While speaking with the male subject officers became alerted by suspicious behavior and alarming statements made about the contents of the vehicle. Due to public safety concerns, Officers then requested the assistance of the North West Bomb Squad.
