WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Symphony Orchestra is kicking off a new season of its Symphony Storytime series.
The Lima Symphony Orchestra is kicking off a new season of its Symphony Storytime series.
Musicians visit libraries in seven area counties to share books that are brought to life with music. On Tuesday they visited the Auglaize Public Library to showcase the violin, viola, and cello for their program "Tails and Tunes," which features stories involving animals.
The Lima Symphony Orchestra hopes that the storytimes will inspire the children to find music when they get older and get the benefits, like creativity and memory, that come with it.

"For most musicians, they have sort of a moment that they were inspired first to play an instrument or be a musician. It might have been a Symphony Storytime or it might have been a school program. Even if they don't become professional musicians, if we have inspired just one of these kids today to pick up the violin later or pick up the trumpet, I say that is a win," says Lydia Butterfield, Education Coordinator for Lima Symphony Orchestra.
The next Symphony Storytime will be on November 20th at the St. Marys Public Library, located at 140 S. Chestnut Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885, at 10:30 a.m.
