LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Task Force Lima met Thursday with more updates and news regarding the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
The task force meets quarterly to get updates from the facility, as well as congressional delegations in the state of Ohio. Thursday's news was positive for the task force, as some topics talked about were spending as they await the spending bill from the federal government, upgrades at the facility, and workforce development. Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan spoke about the growth that the task force has seen over the years and how the continual support of the task force will only help the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center grow with them.
"The task force that we have here, Task Force Lima, it predates me. It's been around for quite some time through a couple of BRACs. But we've always had this hometown, JSMC solid task force again with our congressional delegation, local leaders, but now you're seeing it happen kind of be replicated throughout the state, and now Jobs Ohio has made it one of their pillars, the military and defense sector. So it's awesome to see what Governor DeWine and the administration have done to lift up the military side to take what we've had here in the grassroots level and now for the entire state," explained Cory Noonan, Allen County Commissioner.
Task Force Lima also highlighted the focus of manufacturing in the workforce development of students and young adults, as it is vital to have a pipeline of the next generation of workers for the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
