Tax Free Weekend

Back-to-school shopping can fill your cart quickly, and many shoppers cutting back on costs with Ohio's first tax free weekend. Sheri Welker, mother of three, said, "I'm shopping for basics, like folders, sharpies, pencils, pens, book covers, those kind of things. You just come out and get what you think you might need."

Leslie Mohn has two school-aged children, and she's using the holiday to stock up on savings. "I have a 10% coupon here on top of what they already have on sale. Then I'm also going clothes shopping to the outlet malls and I've got 30%, 40%, 50% off coupons and you've got tax free on top of that, so it's going to be a huge difference," said Mohn.

Bigger savings means shoppers aren't just getting back to school items, they're buying in bulk for things they need the rest of the year. "I'm buying back ups, and also I have a girl scout troop so I'm trying to buy supplies for that as well," said Mohn. Shoppers agree, the busy stores are worth the savings. "I knew it would be crazy out here because of everybody shopping for tax free weekend, but we get nickeled and dimed with everything. Just to be able save a little bit, it's nice for the consumer," said Welker. Mohn said, "I was waiting because I knew that there would be sales and because of the tax free."
