LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - An Elida man made his first court appearance Friday after the death of his 2-year-old daughter last month in a burning car. A preliminary hearing was held in Lima Municipal Court for 33-year-old Nicholas Stemen.

The case of the dad who left his daughter in a burning car will move to common pleas court

Back on September 25th, the sheriff's deputies say he was spotted swerving and driving on a wheel rim.

He's facing a felony charge of endangering children, but a grand jury could bring back more charges after Stemen signed a waiver to skip the hearing and have the case bound over to Allen County Common Pleas Court. Back on September 25th, the sheriff's deputies say he was spotted swerving and driving on a wheel rim. The car caught fire, and after it was put out, the body of his daughter, Lillyanna, was found in the back seat. Stemen was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed. His bond will remain at $1 million.
