Traffic stop leads to arrest of man carrying 83 grams of heroin

A traffic stop leads to a foot chase, and then an arrest by the Lima Police Department who caught a man with thousands of dollars worth of heroin.

Just after ten Tuesday night, Lima Police officers pulled over a car driven by 26-year-old Darian Smith in the 600 block of Prospect. According to the police department, Smith took off on foot, and ran through a occupied home and was caught soon after down the street from the traffic stop. After officers searched Smith, they found 83 grams of heroin on him, with an estimated street value of eight thousand dollars.

Smith is being held at the Allen County Jail awaiting his arraignment.
