Two injured in Celina grain elevator explosion

An explosion and fire at Mercer Landmark's Celina grain elevator sends two contracted workers to the hospital.

According to Mercer Landmark's Safety and Regulatory director, the contractors out of Indiana were working on a grain bin when the explosion took place.

The workers were taken to Mercer County Community hospital in Coldwater.  However, they are expected to be transported to Fort Wayne for further care.

Company officials add that the contractors were likely using welding equipment when the explosion occurred.

The Celina Fire department is currently handling the investigation, but the state fire marshal's office will also assist.
