
MERCER COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The Mercer County Sheriff's Office is investigating a car-semi crash that sent two to the hospital.
Sheriff Jeff Grey reports a front seat passenger, 14-year-old Benjamin Ly of Celina, was airlifted from the scene to Dayton Children's Hospital. The driver of the car, 16-year-old Wesley Greber of Celina, was treated at Mercer Health ER.
The sheriff's office reports that Greber was westbound on State Route 29, and for an unknown reason, he went left of center and hit an oncoming semi. The semi-driver refused treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
May 21, 2024, Press Release from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office: Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred yesterday, May 20, 2024. Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 2:19 PM of a traffic crash on St Rte 29, east of Fleetfoot Rd in Jefferson Township.
The investigation revealed that Wesley Greber (16) of Celina, OH was driving a 2016 black Ford Focus, traveling westbound on St Rte 29. Gurpreet Puaar (36) of Fresno, CA was traveling eastbound in a 2020 red Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer. For an unknown reason, Greber traveled left of center into the eastbound lane, striking Puaar. Puaar refused treatment at the scene.  Greber was transported by Celina Squad 6 to Mercer Health ER for treatment. Benjamin Ly (14), of Celina, OH was a front seat passenger in Gerber’s car and was airlifted from the scene by Lutheran Air and transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital for treatment.Â
Assisting at the scene were members of the Celina Fire Department, Celina EMS Squad 2 and Squad 6, Lutheran Air, Mercer County EMA, MCERV, and Ohio Motor Carrier Enforcement.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene. This crash remains under investigation at this time and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review when completed.
