LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Ford Plant will not go on strike, at least for now, as the United Auto Workers Union continues to negotiate with the big three.

Negotiations have gone on for a month now and union president Shawn Fain announced today that talks are entering a new phase. He added that no new locations will go on strike as they continue negotiations, which means workers from the Lima plant will stay on the job at least for now. The last location to go on strike was the Ford Kentucky truck plant, that generated twenty-five billion dollars in annual revenue.

"We did it the way we did for a simple reason. The companies started to wait till Friday to make substantial progress in bargaining. We've been teaching them how to bargain with the threat of a strike. We can get them moving. We Can teach them the real meaning of competition, not a race to the bottom, but a race to avoid further strikes," said Shawn Fain, UAW president.

Fain says Ford was hoping to make progress by today. He says the new phase will force them to redo their negotiation strategies, and that they will have to adjust to avoid further strikes.
