The United Way of Greater Lima is looking back at 2018 and thanking the people that made their 100th anniversary a great success.

During their annual meeting, the agency broke down the numbers for last year. The United Way awarded over $700,000 to 25 area programs. Over 300 volunteers participated in the 3rd annual Day of Caring, for a combined 1,500 hours of service. The United Way also announced that they have received 97 percent of their 2018 campaign goal.

"We are at $1.6 million. We are not done yet, we are very optimist that we are going to reach our goal of $1.65 million. But that is what we have available right now, but we are very optimist that we are going to get there," said Phil Hayne, United Way of Greater Lima interim president.
The United Way also honored five agencies and people that have made their campaigns a success, including Angie Clark who received the Paul Woehlke Volunteer of the Year Award for her 30 years of service to the agency.

The United Way of Greater Lima held their annual meeting and Volunteer Recognition Breakfast today and announced their 2019 Board Leadership and recognized volunteers and companies for their support.
Erin Hardesty is serving as the Board Chair for 2019 along with C. Ann Miles as Chair- Elect; Jim Bronder, Treasurer; Gary Minnick, Vice-Chair of Community Investment and Julie Quatman, Vice Chair of Resource Development.
United Way highlighted 100 years of impacting lives in our community and the successes of 2018. Most notable achievements included:
- Awarded $723,976 in grand dollars to 25 programs in 19 partner agencies
- Locally 2-1-1 served 1,551 people in need with 1,975 total needs
- Over 300 volunteers participated in the 3rd annual Day of Caring with over 1,500 hours of combined service in one day
United Way honored one company and one volunteer for their outstanding support who set an example in giving, sought opportunities to share the United Way story, and volunteered their time and talents. The company who was recognized for the 2018 GIVE.ADVOCATE.VOLUNTEER award is Rudolph Foods for the Caretober initiative. Betsy Winget received the individual GIVE ADVOCATE VOLUNTEER AWARD.
The LIVE UNITED award recognized one large corporation and one small corporation that reflect the spirit of United Way. The large corporation was Husky Energy and USW 624 and the small corporation recognized was Health Partners of Western Ohio.
Angie Clark was honored with the Paul Woehlke Volunteer of the Year Award. "Angie inspires all of us to be our best, to be better, and is there anytime we need a hand. Whenever we think we've given our all she inspires us to make one more ask, try one more tactic, go one step further all because she lives and believes in LIVING UNITED," said Erin Hardesty, United Way Board Chair.
