January 16, 2025, Press Release from the University of Northwestern Ohio: The University of Northwestern Ohio, renowned as the nation’s leader in High Performance Motorsports education, is gearing up for an adrenaline-fueled journey at the 2025 Speedweeks in Florida. This February, UNOH students will take center stage, combining classroom expertise with real-world motorsports action.
From January 30 to February 8, 2025, the spotlight will shine on Volusia Speedway Park as UNOH fields three state-of-the-art modified cars at the DIRTcar Nationals. The UNOH Racers lineup features drivers Randy Giroux (#1 car) from Fort Erie, Ontario, Brayden Weller (#01 car) from Palmer, Nebraska, and Aidan Hinds (#11 car) from Mainville, Ohio. Each driver will be supported by a team of 26 skilled student crew members, all part of the UNOH Motorsports Team.
- Randy Giroux, a seasoned racer and dual-degree graduate in Automotive Technology & High Performance Motorsports and Business Administration, is now pursuing a second associate degree in Robotics & Automation Technology.
- Brayden Weller is advancing through the associate degree program in High Performance Motorsports Technology.
- Aidan Hinds is undertaking a dual associate degree in Automotive Technology and High Performance Motorsports Technology.
UNOH’s influence extends beyond Volusia. As the Official Educational Partner of Daytona International Speedway, more than 60 UNOH High Performance Motorsports students who are members of the UNOH Race Club, will gain unparalleled hands-on experience as interns during Speedweeks. These students will work alongside 15 ARCA Menards Series teams for the ARCA 200 on February 15, 2025. In addition, four students will work with NASCAR Xfinity Series teams, and two will work with NASCAR Truck Series teams. Many students will continue with their assigned teams throughout the racing season, building critical skills and industry connections.
