LIMA — Lima Senior defended its home floor and control of the Toledo City League with a decisive win over Rogers on Friday night, pulling away early and never looking back in a matchup featuring the league’s top two teams.
The Spartans set the tone from the opening possession, with Willie Foster finding Elynn Stearns for the game’s first points. Lima Senior continued to attack the glass and the rim in the first quarter, getting putback baskets from Foster and Shawn Foster to build an early advantage.
Momentum swung fully in the Spartans’ favor late in the first and into the second quarter. Willie Foster capped a fast break with a dunk, and Lima Senior began to stretch the lead. Stearns scored with two hands inside to make it 32–16, forcing a Rogers timeout.
The Spartans kept pouring it on from the perimeter as Noah Simpson knocked down a 3-pointer, followed shortly by another long-range shot from Shawn Foster. Lima Senior carried a 48–23 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Spartans maintained their pace and defensive pressure, cruising to a 75–36 win. With the victory, Lima Senior improved to 5–0 overall and 3–0 in Toledo City League play.
