Van Wert Hospital, the United Way, and West Ohio Food Bank are taking a proactive approach to fight the significant issue of food insecurity in the area by hosting two food distribution events this summer.

The "Compassionate Initiative" by Ohio Health and West Ohio Food Bank has fed over 1,500 families in the past, and they hope to bring the same success to the upcoming food drive with the help of their volunteers.

Van Wert Hospital, the United Way, and West Ohio Food Bank are taking a proactive approach to fight the significant issue of food insecurity in the area by hosting two food distribution events this summer. As grocery prices rise, they want to continue supporting families in need by providing nutritious food options. The "Compassionate Initiative" by Ohio Health and West Ohio Food Bank has fed over 1,500 families in the past, and they hope to bring the same success to the upcoming food drives with the help of their volunteers.

Van Wert Hospital teams up with local agencies to combat food insecurity

The food drives will take place on July 23, 2024, and August 27, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m. at Trinity Friends Church, located at 605 N Franklin St, Van Wert, OH 45891. 

"Our hospital is very involved in our community, and we like to give back. Our associates volunteer in our community, along with our leadership team, so this was a way for us to give back to our community where there's a need," said Paula Stabler, chief nursing officer at Van Wert Hospital.

The food drives will take place on July 23, 2024, and August 27, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m. at Trinity Friends Church, located at 605 N Franklin St, Van Wert, OH 45891
