VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol opened its doors Thursday for an open house event.

Interested community members attended to learn more about a career in law enforcement with the State Highway Patrol. Potential future applicants toured the facility, spoke with on-site personnel, got a close-up look at equipment and vehicles, and asked questions — all to help determine which direction within the patrol they might want to pursue.

“One of our main mantras or thing is we want to transform people's talents, so we feel like this is an opportunity for people to come here and say 'yeah, you know what? I can do this job,' and hopefully, they meet me or someone here at the patrol post and they can say 'yeah, I can see myself in that uniform. This is very doable, very possible,' and I think that's the main thing,” says William Watson, Master Trooper, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Williams added there will be regional OSHP testing at Bowling Green State University on Monday, July 14, at 8 a.m.
