LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A car club is helping some automotive and Ag equipment students with the cost of their education.
The Western Buckeye Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America handed out 4 $500 scholarships to University of Northwestern Ohio students. Last summer, the club raised money through their annual car show. Most of the proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity, but they decided to use some of the money to provide scholarships to students in the applied technology program.
“Folks of this age are the future of the automotive hobby and the automotive world,” says Dan Groman, Dir. Western Buckeye Region of Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. “And so, we just want to get them excited about the old cars. We enjoy our old Chevrolets and GMCs and we know that it is getting harder and harder to find some people that are able to work on some of the older technology. So, we want to get them excited about it. They are the future caretakers of our automobiles.”
Here are the four scholarship recipients,
Nathan Archambault – Alton, New Hampshire
Bryce Stearns – Mendon, Ohio
Joseph Pozda – Grafton, Ohio
Josephine Schmucker – Palm Beach, Florida
They are from Ag equipment and automotive and high-performance technology programs. Groman says they would like to keep the scholarship program going, so long as they have funds to support it.
