Students at Wapakoneta Middle School said a big "thank you" Monday afternoon to those who served our country.
Every year the school holds a program for Veterans Day, starting with a cookie reception, and students could invite a veteran in their family to the school for the program. The events that went on during the day were organized by the middle school student council, who say that being able to thank veterans in person, brings a bigger impact on students at the school.
"It’s a lot different because we can write them letters and say thank you for your service, but to meet them face-to-face for the actions that they’ve done for us and say thank you that means a lot to us," said Callie Sutton, president of the student council.
This year's program speaker was Colonel Jeffery Goodes.
