The need continues to grow for families needing help putting food on the table. Food Bank officials say they see an increase in registrations around the holiday season. Boxes full of sweet potatoes, chicken leg quarters, and even desserts were loaded as vehicles pulled through. Food bank officials say they are seeing many first-time applicants and encourage anyone that is struggling to take advantage of their services.

Wayne Steed is the Chief Operating Officer at WOFB and explains, “It’s always a busy time for us, especially around the holidays. We get more and more families that have never used any of our services before coming out and it’s a really good time for Christmas right around the corner. We service over 11 counties and we have over 100 agencies in those 11 counties. So, any neighbors or family members that need help, I mean that’s what we’re here for, we can definitely get you in the right direction.”

The next scheduled distribution is Saturday, December 16th and you can register online. They say to watch their social media pages for a few pop-up distributions before the end of the year.
