A number of empty properties are for sale in Allen County. We spoke with a realty representative who says these buildings are not always easy to sell. Tim Stanford with Yocum Realty says they represent more than 150 commercial buildings in Allen County. Agents are actively searching to find a new purpose for old buildings. Stanford and the Allen Economic Development Group work together to bring businesses to the area. Some properties lease for a few hundred dollars a month while other transactions are in the millions.
They're always brainstorming with owners to sell the properties. "Selling commercial property is more difficult than selling residential property," said Stanford, "A lot of the commercial properties are built for specific uses, and so you have to be able to find somebody that can succeed the original user of the building that has a similar use." Stanford says 2015 was a great year for realty and they're looking forward to 2016.
