“The World Health Organization has indicated that there's been an increase of 23% in anxiety since the pandemic, and 28% in depression,” said John Foster of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation. “Mental health is an issue. It's an issue that we need to talk about. In the past, it’s been under the carpet—kind of hidden—but now it should be at the forefront.”

Lima City Council members and Mayor Sharetta Smith participated in a "Council of the Whole" meeting Monday evening. At the November 7th meeting, Lima City Council elected to table the legislation that proposed to give out a one-time bonus pay of $1,000 to city employees who worked during the COVID-19 Pandemic and who meet proposed criteria. At Monday's meeting, councilors and the mayor held a discussion on the exact logistics with the legislation and to answer some questions that Lima City Councilors had.
The topic of smoking and vaping at Lima city parks and outdoor recreational facilities was heavily discussed Monday evening before the Lima City Council regular meeting later Monday night.
Former Dayton mayor Nan Whaley met with local union representatives for a round table discussion. Whaley listened as attendees told her about the impact unions have had on their lives and their concerns about the current job market. She emphasizes the importance of bringing more and better jobs to the state.
Monday's session focused on bar owners within the community on how the city can assist in small business growth and development in Lima. According to statistics provided by the city, small businesses account for 99.6% of all businesses in the State of Ohio. An established relationship between the city departments, such as police and the RTA, and small businesses is pivotal for economic growth in Lima.
Tim Ryan visited BrightView Recovery Clinic for a roundtable discussion on the opioid epidemic in Ohio and what recovery efforts look like. He says that he believes that a lot of money is being put into recovery services here in Ohio but that we're not seeing the results that we should be seeing and that addiction recovery is a topic that he has been working on for several years now.
