With the ribbon cut, the 170th Auglaize County Fair is officially open and fair goers are ready for the rides, competitions, and of course the food.   But officials say there is one thing that make the Auglaize County Fair special.  “The people, we got so many great people that come up and help us with this fair,” says Ed  Doenges, Manager of the Auglaize County Fair.

Several amusement rides and vendors had already arrived at the fairgrounds to begin setting up, when the governor's latest announcement eliminated them, along with grandstand events. Now, only Junior Fair events can go on. Social distancing guidelines will still be monitored in the junior fair barns, and what those crowds will look like are to be discussed by the board.

While the Auglaize County Fair gets closer and closer, the fair board has made a last-minute adjustment after the governor's comments yesterday. Our Eran Hami has the latest update on the Auglaize Fair. Governor Mike DeWine hasn’t been completely thrilled by the safety measures taken at the early county fairs. It prompted somewhat of a warning for fairs to make sure they follow the state guidelines put out there, to keep everyone safe and the coronavirus at bay.

The Auglaize County Fair board made their final decision yesterday evening on the fate of the fair later this summer. The show will go on, and a full fair with a few modifications is expected to occur. There will be rides, vendors, and grandstand events. However, the grandstand will be limited to half capacity to maintain social distancing between audiences. The Jr. Fair Board will also continue as normal, with any former restrictions being lifted.

With some fairs in Ohio canceling or modifying the events they hold due to the coronavirus, the Auglaize County Fair would like your input. The fair has created a short survey to fill out, with responses due by this Friday. The survey asks questions about how fairgoers feel about attending certain events with social distancing guidelines. With the responses, they hope to have decisions made soon.
