Gervens Justilien, the man accused of the March 2024 murder of an American Township woman, will have his trial postponed. Originally scheduled to begin on January 14, 2025, Judge Jeffrey Reed allowed a motion for continuance entertained by Justilien's defense. A new trial date has not been set. The postponement is to allow an independent DNA expert to complete their investigation of collected evidence and release their findings.

A trial date has been set in Allen County Common Pleas Court for a man accused of murder from back in March of this year. 31-year-old Jervens Justilien will face a jury trial starting on January 14, 2025, with no other motions pending at this time. Judge Jeffrey Reed told the court that given the nature of the charges and the need for translation by interpreters, the trial may last longer than normal, perhaps up to a week.

The trial for a man accused of murder back in March has been pushed back until next year. 31-year-old Gervens Justilien agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial during a hearing on Monday. The new date has been set for January 14th, 2025, to give the defense time to prepare his case with a translator and translation software.

An Allen County grand jury returned an indictment against a man who allegedly raped and killed a woman in March. 31-year-old Gervens Justilien has been indicted on aggravated murder, rape, and strangulation charges for the death of 26-year-old Chrislande Auguste. The Allen County Sheriff's detectives say she was found dead at a home on Makley Drive from strangulation and blunt force trauma. Justilien ran following the crime and was picked up in Rhode Island by the U.S. Marshals.
