ST. MARYS, Ohio — A summertime tradition in West Central Ohio hit a major milestone this week, as the Roughrider Fundamentals Football Camp in St. Marys celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Led by longtime coach Dave Brewer, the camp started with just 17 kids. In 2025, the turnout reached 184 campers. Dozens of current Roughrider football players returned to their roots by helping coach and mentor the next generation.
Over the years, the camp has welcomed major names like former Chicago Bears running back Curtis Enis and Ohio State national champion Joel Penton, a Van Wert native.
More than a football camp, the event has become a community cornerstone, fostering pride and connection through the game. For many, it’s where their football dreams first began — and with no signs of slowing down, it continues to be a launching pad for both skills and spirit.
