BLUFFTON — Bluffton remained undefeated Friday night, rolling past Jefferson 49-6 to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Jefferson struck first when quarterback Colt Cross connected with Lucas Millmine for a touchdown in the opening quarter. The extra point was no good, but the Jeffcats held a brief 6-0 lead.
The Pirates quickly responded as Tayte Giesige found Lleyton Miller for a score, giving Bluffton the edge. Later in the half, Giesige added another touchdown strike, this time to Ethan Sprunger, as the lead grew to 14-6.
From there, Bluffton leaned on its ground game. Jackson Bowlus powered in for back-to-back touchdowns, extending the margin to 21-6 before the Pirates put the game out of reach in the second half.
With the win, Bluffton has now won seven of the last eight matchups against Jefferson and continues its strong start to the season. The Pirates aim to keep their perfect record alive as NWC play heats up.
