DELPHOS — One of West Central Ohio’s top basketball players is taking his talents to the Division I level.
Delphos St. John’s senior guard Cameron Elwer announced his verbal commitment to Furman University, a Southern Conference program located in Greenville, South Carolina.
Elwer, the Blue Jays’ all-time leading scorer, has been among Ohio’s elite talents throughout his career. He averaged 28.2 points per game last season after posting 27.6 as a sophomore and 21.9 as a freshman. His consistent scoring power helped DSJ to a 23-3 record and a trip to the regional finals.
The honors have piled up for Elwer, including first-team All-Midwest Athletic Conference, first-team All-Ohio, and runner-up for the prestigious Mr. Basketball award as the state’s top player.
Elwer now joins a Furman program with a strong recent track record, looking to continue his standout career at the next level.
