DELPHOS — Lima Central Catholic showed why it remains one of the top small-school programs in the state, overpowering Jefferson 41-7 in Northwest Conference action on Friday night.
The Thunderbirds struck quickly on their opening drive as quarterback Brady Parker ripped off a long run inside the 5-yard line, setting up a jet sweep touchdown by Lausen Flores. After a Jefferson fumble, Parker found Flores again on a quick out to extend the lead to 14-0.
Parker continued to make plays, adding a rushing score in the second quarter with help from a strong block on the edge. Carter Lester followed with a highlight run of his own, breaking multiple tackles for a 41-0 advantage just before halftime.
Jefferson broke through in the third quarter when Jaxon Buzard punched in a short touchdown, but it was too little, too late against an LCC squad that dominated both sides of the ball.
The Thunderbirds improved to 7-0 on the season, while Jefferson fell short in its upset bid.
