LIMA, Ohio — The Lima Locos continue to lead the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, and now they’re taking home both of its top weekly awards.
Nick Kolze has been named GLSCL Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance on July 3. The Purdue right-hander went the distance in a seven-inning complete game, giving up just one hit and one run while striking out five. The outing earned him his third win of the summer.
Joining him in the spotlight is Charlie Vercruysse, who earned Player of the Week honors. The Illinois standout hit an eye-popping .519 over six games, driving in seven runs, scoring four times, and capping off the week with a walk-off winner on July 6.
With a 4-2 record over the past week, the Locos now sit atop the GLSCL standings at 18-8 overall.
