MARIA STEIN, Ohio (WLIO) — Marion Local continued its historic dominance in Region 28, shutting out Fort Recovery 35-0 on Friday night to extend the program’s state-record winning streak to 76 consecutive games.
The Flyers took control late in the second quarter when Brennen Hess connected with Andrew Schmackers to set up first-and-goal. One play later, Brayden Mescher powered into the end zone, giving Marion Local a 21-0 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Flyers’ defense delivered again. Brody Barga broke through for a sack, forcing Fort Recovery into a three-and-out.
But Marion Local’s offense kept rolling. Kamden Eifert punched in a one-yard touchdown to make it 28-0, and later in the quarter Hess found Oliver Huelsman streaking down the sideline to set up another red-zone opportunity.
Eifert capped off the night with his fourth touchdown, sealing a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.
Marion Local moves on in the Division VII postseason as the Flyers chase yet another regional title. Next up, a MAC rematch against St. Henry in Week 14.
