Shawnee sweeps Holland Springfield to advance in sectional tournament

LIMA — Shawnee opened postseason play in dominant fashion, sweeping Holland Springfield in straight sets Tuesday night at Lappin Gymnasium to move on in the sectional tournament.
The Indians wasted no time setting the tone, cruising through the opening set 25-6 before closing out the match with scores of 25-20 and 25-5. Addie Kriegel was a force at the net, recording a pair of key kills in the second set to help Shawnee pull away late.
Gianna Upshaw led the offense with 12 kills, while Karleigh Hutchins added 10, including an emphatic shot down the middle to open the third set. Sami Rettig also played a key role in setting up the attack, feeding her hitters throughout the night.
With the win, Shawnee advances to face Lima Senior in the sectional final on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
