Waynesfield-Goshen opens new era with 32-0 shutout of Mississinawa Valley

WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (WLIO) — A new era of Waynesfield-Goshen football got off to a strong start Friday night as the Tigers shut out Mississinawa Valley 32-0 in their season opener.
Dan Faraglia made his debut as the Tigers' head coach, and Waynesfield-Goshen controlled the game from the opening whistle.
The Tigers took a 26-0 lead into halftime, with the defense keeping the Blackhawks off the scoreboard in the final seconds of the first half. Landon Kabara came up with a sack to help preserve the shutout heading into the break.
Waynesfield-Goshen continued to control the game in the second half.
Quarterback Corbin Barnes connected with Trenton Faraglia for a big gain up the middle, with the sophomore picking up a first down and taking the ball to the Mississinawa Valley 44-yard line.
Later in the drive, Barnes handed the ball off to Jhett Sibeneck, who broke loose down the sideline and found the end zone to extend the Tigers' lead to 32-0.
The Waynesfield-Goshen defense continued to apply pressure, with Owen Durham adding a big sack.
The Tigers held on for the 32-0 shutout, opening the season 1-0 under Faraglia.
Final: Waynesfield-Goshen 32, Mississinawa Valley 0.
