Thursday was an early start for area officers after the report of a stolen vehicle out of Van Wert.
A 14-year-old boy allegedly stole his neighbor's car and would later abandon it on South Kemp Road, before stealing an F150 pickup on Fort Amanda Road. Shawnee police say they spotted him driving erratically on Kemp and tried to stop him. He allegedly took off on a 15-minute chase, hitting speeds of 100 miles per hour, before he ran the stop sign on South Grubb, slamming into and totaling a westbound pickup. That driver had non-life threatening injuries.
The teen ran off and was later tracked down behind some houses on Grubb Road with the help of a dog from the Allen County Sheriff's Office. He faces several charges including car theft and failure to comply.
