Tri Star Career Compact is helping local companies get much-needed workers.
This is the fourth year that the school has hosted a career fair, but this time it was not only for students, it was open to the public too. There were 60 companies available to talk to job seekers. Some of the area's employers need workers, including welding, manufacturing, and health care. Tri Star sees this as a great opportunity for the students, and the companies that they work closely with.
“The nice thing about our companies they provide so much to the area. They'll do the training. They let us know what we need to be doing out here at Tri Star. They have so many open positions they are just begging people at this point. So, we hope that this is a service for those companies, as well,” says Marcia Helentjari, the Career Development and Adult Director for Tri Star.
This is the first time that Tri Star has hosted two different career fairs in a school year, and if Friday was successful they are looking to continue this tradition in the future.
