CELINA, OHIO (WLIO) -Â According to the Celina police, 25-year-old Christopher Mangus was shot in the back and was flown to a Dayton hospital with life-threatening injuries, and 49-year-old Samuel Paul was arrested and charged with felonious assault.Â

When he returned with another individual to pick up some of his kids’ things.
Police say that there was a domestic dispute between Mangus and Paul at 641 N. Sugar Street because Mangus left with his children. Around 1:30 am. When he returned with another individual to pick up some of his kids’ things. The individual was standing at the door when they heard yelling when Magnus was leaving, and they allegedly saw Paul reach around them to shoot Mangus as he left. The case is still under investigation.Â

Shooting at 641 N. Sugar St., Celina
On November 3, 2024 at about 1:30AM Celina Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at 641 N. Sugar St. Upon arrival officers found one of the residents, 25 year old Christopher Alan Mangus on the ground in front of the house suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.Â
A witness on scene identified 49 year old Samuel Paul, also a resident at 641 N. Sugar St., as the shooter. The scene was secured and Celina Police started life saving first aid until EMS from the Celina Fire Dept. arrived on scene.
The preliminary investigation shows that Samuel Paul is the step-father-in-law to the victim, Christopher Mangus. There had been a prior domestic dispute at the residence and Mangus had left with his children. He returned with the witness to retrieve items for the children. The witness heard yelling and was at the front door when Mangus was leaving. He reports that Samuel Paul reached around him to shoot Christopher Mangus in the back as he was leaving the residence.
EMS took Christopher Mangus to Mercer Health from where he was flown to a Dayton area hospital with life threatening injuries. Mangus underwent surgery for those injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Samuel Paul is being held in the Mercer County Jail on a preliminary charge of Felonious Assault, a felony of the first degree. The case continues to be investigated and is under review by the Mercer County Prosecutor, Erin Minor.
