AEP Ohio was instrumental in bringing the Recleim Recycling Plant to put down roots in Lima.
At the grand opening of the facility Tuesday, Lima Mayor David Berger said he reached out to the CEO of AEP and the utility company's early commitment to the partnership got the ball rolling to have the facility built here.
While the utility company has helped thousands of homes recycle their used appliances through other organizations, this is the first ever partnership so close to home.
"We had other vendors that we worked with to do this type of thing so to bring those vendors in our service territory and to help us actually effectuate the opportunities for the customers as well as the economic development component. It makes a ton of sense," said Julie Sloat, President & COO, AEP Ohio.
AEP Ohio customers can do their part by visiting aepohio.com/recycle to get free pick-up of their old appliances.
