The Allen County Commissioners have taken steps to provide COVID rapid tests to their employees.
With the recent shortage of tests, they have purchased 3,400 tests for employees and county use. The tests are there as a tool to help reduce the spread of the virus. Employees are not required to take any, but commissioners wanted to have them on hand to help their employees obtain them if they want them.
Allen County Commissioner Brian Winegardener explains, “So we decided to move forward with then. It’s going to be in two rounds likely. The first round we were able to secure 1,800 tests. Then there’ll be a second order of roughly 1,600 at that point. So, that should give us plenty to get through this Covid event that we’re in right now.”
The cost for the tests is just over $38,000 that they hope can be reimbursed with American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
