The Ohio Department of Transportation and Allen County have an agreement through a “Governor’s Deed” for usage of the property. The state still owns it, but the county has the authority to repurpose the site. There are multiple buildings on the grounds that are being used for storage and offices. One was renovated and houses the Allen County Ohio Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Commissioners looking at the site to possibly relocate other county offices.
Commission President Brian Winegardner explains, “We just wanted to put a fresh view in our minds of what the buildings look like. So, we can sit down at the table and come up with a solution to the use of these buildings.”
