2/28/19 Media Release Update from the Ohio State Highway Patrol

Allen County – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle crash involving an Allen East School bus which occurred on SR 309 at Napoleon Road.

On February 27, at approximately 7:40am, a 2011 Blue Bird School Bus (Allen East Bus #3), driven by Amy C. Redman (45) of Lima, was east bound on State Route 309 and attempted to make a left turn onto Napoleon Road.  A silver 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by Jay Holliday (38) of Lima, was driving south on Napoleon Road and failed to yield from a posted stop sign, striking the bus. 

Four students were transported by Lafayette-Jackson Fire and EMS and Harrod Fire and EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Mr. Holliday was cited for failure to yield from a posted stop sign.   

The crash remains under investigation.

A fender bender accident with an Allen East school bus sends four kids to the hospital to be checked out this morning.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Harding Highway and Napoleon Road.

The bus was hit on the side by a vehicle. Both the bus and the vehicle drove to the parking lot of school. Four of the students on the bus were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating what happened in the crash and who will be cited for the accident.
