There was another “R” being taught at Allen East Schools on Thursday besides reading, the kids learned to ROCK!!
“Rock Your School Day" is a national movement geared towards getting students excited about learning by applying outside the box thinking with their lessons. This is the first year that Allen East’s pre-k through 3rd grade participated in the day. The kindergarten classes were working on some fun math and science activities. The students were obviously ready to rock and learn too.
“They had no idea what we were going to be doing today, so it was a complete shock,” says Kindergarten Teacher, Amy Jo Schumaker. “These kids were amazing down in the cafeteria dancing, and they've come down excited and happy and so it just makes them want to come to school because they never know when their teacher are going to get a little crazy,” said Amy Jo Schumaker, Allen East Kindergarten Teacher.
Schumaker says they are looking at continuing “Rock Your School Day” next year.
