LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Allen County Commissioners have taken the next step toward relocating the Child Support Enforcement Agency to a new downtown location.

The commissioners signed an agreement with C&C Properties to lease the first three floors of Cook Tower, the former Chase Bank building on High Street for $15,000 a month after the agency moves in. Their current location would have required significant remodeling to meet its present and future needs, but the Cook Tower owners approached the county with an alternative option that commissioners determined was a better fit.

“We've been working on a lease. We've approved the lease. It's been signed. So the next step now is moving forward is come up with a bid spec for the demolition and the remodel of those areas for Child Support Enforcement Agency,” says Brian Winegardner, Allen County Commissioner.

The remodel will include upgraded security measures, private rooms for client meetings, and expanded office space. The project’s estimated cost is more than $3.5 million, with construction expected to begin in early 2026.
