LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Allen County veterans will soon have the chance to beat the summer heat, thanks to a special event hosted by the Bluffton Community Pool and the Allen County Veterans Service Commission.

“Operation Cool Off” will take place on Saturday, Aug. 16, giving veterans of all ages and their immediate families free entry into the pool from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. With recent extreme temperatures, the event offers a refreshing and relaxing morning for those who served.

“We're hoping that our veterans with kids will be able to come out and just enjoy themselves and cool off,” said Tamara Wilson, Executive Director of the Allen County Veterans Service Commission. “It's going to be free to them, and we'll provide food and resources to them.”

Organizers also hope the event helps connect newer veterans with services they may not yet be aware of. To attend, veterans need to bring a valid military ID or proof of veteran status. All guests must be immediate family members.
