LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County Fair is honoring students competing for the final time in the junior fair program this year.
At the top of the Grandstand, nearly 50 banners display the names and pictures of participants from various departments who are aging out of junior fair competitions. Some of these students have spent a decade or more showing projects at the fair, and the banners recognize their dedication and hard work.
“We have lots of people who come up and take pictures with them, and we are really excited to put those up for them this year and have them celebrate maybe what might be their last fair. They might get one more before they go off to college. We have over 1000 exhibitors that are in the junior fair program, and so just to have those 50 that made it through to their senior year is really exciting to us," said Kelly Cobie, Allen County 4H Educator.
After the fair concludes, students will be able to take the banners home as a memento of their years competing at the Allen County Fair.
