CVS executive director highlights victim-led advocacy at Lima Kiwanis meeting

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – For more than four decades, Crime Victim Services has been advocating for victims’ rights in Allen County, helping people understand their rights and how the justice process works.

Executive Director Amy Wiechart-Bayliff spoke to the Lima Kiwanis this week about the organization’s mission to support those experiencing the trauma of a violent event. She said their role is to provide guidance and ensure victims have the resources they need.

“Some victims request full participation in the process, and for some that's too much, and so we're there to be able to assist them in the way that is meaningful and can support their healing and their participation in the justice process,” Wiechart-Bayliff said.

She added that victims have the right to assert their rights at any point during the legal process, noting that the group’s goal is to provide victim-led advocacy.
