This year’s theme is “We’re Here.” Individuals with disabilities are part of everyday life and they want to be seen as that. Many are being independent, finding jobs and leading productive lives. Anthony Simpson is a sub-secretary at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities and encourages anyone with a disability to not shy away from getting a job.

Anthony Simpson adds, “Whatever your interests are try and seek help to get that employment that you’re looking for. Don’t just settle for less. Like I said, we’re a people too. We can get as much as the average person that lives in this world.”

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and it will wrap up with the board’s annual partnership luncheon on March 29th.
